Voice Stories consists of pieces for voice and electronics. Common to all
the pieces is the portrayal, in different ways, of profound female destinies
from different cultures and ages, created by some of the most central
composers in New Music:

Alejandro Viņao: Masagošs Confession (1996)
Hildegardšs Dream (1994)
Giacinto Scelsi: Hô (1960) and Taiagaru (1962)
Luigi Nono: La fabbrica illuminata (1964)

Masagošs Confession was originally a scene of the chamber opera Rashomon.
The libretto is based on a short story by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, and filmed by
Akira Kurosawa. Here, Masago tells of an assault by bandits, in which she
herself claims to have killed her husband. Hildegardšs Dream portrays one of
the most famous of Hildegard von Bingenšs religious visions. In La fabbrica
illuminata, the singer is the commentator of and is placed amid
loudspeakers that broadcast the sounds of life and drama in a factory,
overdubbed with sequences of choir-song. Scelsišs piece Hô is based on a
word of Sanskrit.

Hilde Torgersen was educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music. She is an
active proponent of New Music, and has premiered pieces by James Dillon,
Arne Norheim, James Clarke, Gerhard Stäbler, Rolf Wallin, among others.
Hilde Torgersen has recorded CDšs with ensembles such as Cikada, Oslo
